During mental health week, the children held a discussion on how they can manage their own mental health and support the needs of others. They created a list of messages and positive affirmations for themselves in the attempt to support growth mindset. 

This week in Year 5, the children have continued to develop their understanding of rounding during Numeracy lessons. After consolidating their knowledge of rounding to the nearest 10, 100 and 1000, the children have now begun to round to the nearest 10,000, 100,000 and 1,000,000.  

This week in year 5 we have been testing the properties of different materials.  We carried out a test to see if the materials could conduct heat; its durability, permeability and flexibility.  We grouped our materials according to their properties and had lots of fun too!

A new school year has begun! We’re so happy to welcome all our children back and look forward to the adventures, challenges, and successes ahead.

This week, Year 5 gave been busy using their imaginations to create fantastic setting descriptions during out Literacy lessons. They have been bringing their ideas to life using powerful adjectives, figurative language, and focusing carefully on the use of senses. 

To celebrate the European Day of Languages, the children had the opportunity to learn more about the different countries in Europe and the languages that are spoken. They were then given the opportunity to decorate a hand to show more about the languages that they speak. 

This week, the children have been working incredibly hard and showing great determination in their learning. We are very proud of the effort and focus they have put into each and every task. 

In Literacy, the children have been completing skills lessons to recap and further develop their understanding of word classes, punctuation and sentence types.
