This week in Literacy we have been writing our story 'The lion who came to lunch'. We used a range of punctuation and wrote dialogue for the characters, Sophie, mummy and the lion. 

In Maths we have been working on adding and subtracting two-digit numbers.  We have been using manipulatives, like number squares and base 10 to help us. 

We had mental health afternoon this week. We learnt about the theme 'connection' and we discussed why it is important to have a positive mindset. The children creating a positive wall, where we shared kind and positive attributes about each other.

This week we used expanded noun phrases to write a setting description, based on the story the 'The tiger who came to tea'. We used prepositions and conjunctions to improve our sentences. 

In Maths, we have been focusing on adding ten to numbers. We have also been using tens frames to solve questions for number bonds.

This week in Art, we used our colour mixing skills to create tints and tones for different pictures.

This week in Maths we started partitioning 2-digit numbers. We used base 10 to partition in different ways.

In Literacy we used different punctuation to write statements, commands and questions. 

In Art we used our colour mixing skills to create tints and tones. We used black and white to create lighter and darker shades of green.

This week was our first week back for the new academic year. We spent time getting to know our new teachers and exploring our classrooms. 

We also learnt about children's rights, we completed activities on our goals in education, and what we hope to achieve in our new classes. 

We identified different types of bullying, and we discussed why bullying is not acceptable, and what children should do if they are worried.

This week in maths the children have been focusing on addition and subtraction. They have use different strategies such as using their hundreds squares and number lines to answer questions. In literacy they have been planning for their story the Lion who came to Lunch. They have used features such as ENPS and adjectives to do so..

This week we learnt about Black History Month. We watched 3A's assembly and learnt about significant figures like Rosa Parks. In year 2, we created African masks to celebrate and learn about the culture.

This week in Maths we focused on counting in steps of 2, 5 and 10's. We had to use our timetable skills to help us identify the next missing number. 

In Literacy, we started our topic 'Stories with familiar settings'. We have explored stories, such as the Tiger who came to Tea and Five minutes of Peace. We looked at the different characters and settings in the stories. 

In Music this week, we learnt the song ' Hands, feet and heart'. We included actions in our song.

This week in maths Year 2 have been looking at place value, specifically focusing on identifying their tens and ones using concrete and pictorial resources. In Literacy they have been looking at different forms of conjunctions such as subordinating and co-ordinating alongside commas within a list. Ins Science they have started their topic on materials they have looked at the properties of materials and have been introduced to some new vocabulary.
