Welcome to Year 1
Welcome to Year 1, we have two classes which are 1M and 1W. Our PE days are Monday and Tuesday, children should come to school in PE kit on those days. Remember homework should be returned on Monday and reading books/ records should be given in every Thursday.

This week we had our Year 1 Phonics parent workshop.
A huge thank you to all our parents and carers who joined. It was wonderful to share how we teach phonics in school and explore fun ways to support reading at home. Working together helps our children become confident, enthusiastic readers!

Year 1 have made a brilliant start to the new school year!
During our first two days together, we have settled into our new classroom, got to know our class routines and enjoyed spending time with our friends. The children have shown fantastic enthusiasm and have worked hard to make a positive start.
We're looking forward to a year full of exciting learning and memorable experiences.

We've had a lovely week watching the kids settle into year 1 and it's been fantastic seeing them take on their new learning challenges so positively.
In maths our focus has been working with numbers to 20 and writing these as numerals and words. They have also begun counting in 2's and attempting maths questions around these.
For literacy the children have been composing their own captions and focusing handwriting. Children have been encouraged to apply the correct pencil grip.
This week the children have also learnt the importance of e-safety and reporting to trusted adults any unsafe online situations they may come across, when using devices such as electronic tablets.
